Install steps — 5 steps, ~2 minutes

  1. Click "Download for Windows" above. You will be sent to the official TradingView desktop page. The Windows installer download starts automatically on most browsers, or click the "Download for Windows" button on TradingView's page.
  2. Open the downloaded .exe file. Windows User Account Control (UAC) may prompt you — confirm the publisher reads "TradingView Inc." and click Yes.
  3. Choose install location. Default is %LocalAppData%\Programs\TradingView. Change only if you store applications on a different drive.
  4. Sign in. Use your existing TradingView account. New users can register from the sign-in screen with email, Google, Apple, or X login.
  5. Confirm your layouts loaded. First launch auto-syncs watchlists, charts, and alerts from your account. Allow ~10 seconds.
Total install time: 90–120 seconds on a typical broadband connection. Download time accounts for most of the duration.

If Windows SmartScreen blocks the installer

SmartScreen occasionally flags freshly released installer builds that have not yet accumulated reputation with Microsoft. The flag does not indicate malware — it indicates Microsoft has not seen enough installs of that exact build yet. To proceed:

  1. On the SmartScreen warning, click More info.
  2. Verify the publisher reads TradingView Inc..
  3. Click Run anyway.

If the publisher does not read "TradingView Inc." — stop. You have downloaded an unofficial installer. Delete the file and download again from the official TradingView desktop page.

Security — what to verify before running any trading software installer

Common questions

Where do I download TradingView for Windows?

Download from the official TradingView desktop page at tradingview.com or via the authorized affiliate link on this page. Both lead to the same code-signed Windows installer published by TradingView Inc. Avoid third-party mirrors, which can bundle adware or modified binaries.

How large is the TradingView Windows installer?

The TradingView Windows installer is approximately 100 MB. The installed application uses around 500 MB of disk space after the first run and account sync. Allow at least 1 GB free disk space for cache and saved layouts.

Do I need a paid TradingView plan to use the desktop app?

No. The desktop app works with a free TradingView account. Paid plans (Essential, Plus, Premium, Ultimate) add features like more indicators per chart, second-based intervals, and ad-free use, but the desktop app itself is free regardless of plan.

Is the TradingView installer code-signed?

Yes. The Windows installer is digitally signed by TradingView Inc. You can verify the signature by right-clicking the .exe, selecting Properties, then the Digital Signatures tab. Windows SmartScreen may still prompt on first run for newer installer versions — this is normal.

What if Windows SmartScreen blocks the installer?

Click 'More info' on the SmartScreen prompt, then 'Run anyway'. SmartScreen sometimes flags newly released installer versions that have not yet built reputation. Verify the publisher reads 'TradingView Inc.' in the UAC prompt before proceeding.

Can I install TradingView desktop without admin rights?

Yes. The TradingView desktop installer defaults to a per-user install location (%LocalAppData%) that does not require admin elevation. Choosing a system-wide path under Program Files requires administrator credentials.
